Dr Elizabeth Hartnell-Young is a
research fellow at the Learning Sciences Research Institute at the University of
Nottingham. She came to the LSRI in February 2006, after an enjoyable career as
a teacher and school principal, and experience managing large- and small-scale
research projects involving teachers and technologies in Australia. She is currently leading a project investigating the Impact of ePortfolios on Learning for Becta in the UK.
Over the past ten
years, she has:
- Managed and documented
the Boys’ Education Lighthouse Schools Project (350 schools around
Australia), a Commonwealth Government project,
- Supported the National Quality Schooling Framework
(online knowledge building for Australian teachers) a Commonwealth
Government project,
- Researched the Successful Integration of Learning
Technologies (SILT) with Department of Education and Training, Victoria,
- Initiated and conducted research in Australian
schools using mobile phones for learning (supported by Nokia Finland),
- Written Digital Professional Portfolios for Change
(with Maureen Morriss, recently revised for second edition entitled Digital Portfolios:
Powerful Tools for Promoting Professional Growth and Reflection. Thousand Oaks, CA: Corwin Press)

Initiated
successful ePortfolio Australia™ Conference in conjunction with the European
Institute for eLearning, Melbourne December 2004,

Established
and managed “women @the cutting edge” a program to develop professional
portfolios while training staff in the use of technology, supported by AT&T
(USA) 1997-2000.
She is a member of
the organising committee for ePortfolio Australia 2007
and mLearn 2007, both international conferences.
